The Court of International Commercial  Arbitration

The Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania is the leading arbitral institution in Romania, with an activity of over 57 years.

It settles disputes within its own jurisdiction, under its own Rules of Arbitration Procedure. Also, at the parties’ request, the Court is able to organize ad-hoc arbitration.

The average number of cases handled per year is more than 400 domestic and 50 international.

The Court of Arbitration supports the professional training of lawyers and legal advisors in this field, organizing conferences on both domestic and international arbitration. Within the Court, there is a library that includes materials on international arbitration, the Court facilitating, by publishing collections of practice, the access to its jurisprudence, with due consideration for maintaining the confidentiality.
 
The Court of Arbitration issues and publishes the Romanian Arbitration Journal, the only magazine dedicated to this field in Romania. In several other professional publications, arbitrators within the Court of Arbitration, describe the main law issues of arbitration appearing during the arbitral activity, of interest for practitioners.

According to its own Rules of Arbitration Procedure, the Court of Arbitration settles, in law or in equity, international trade disputes, under the agreement concluded by the parties to the contract. The Court of Arbitration also settles domestic disputes.

The Court of Arbitration provides the following services:

  • Arbitration for the settlement of international and domestic disputes, its jurisdiction being based on the agreement concluded by businesses in their contracts or addendums thereto;
  • Procedures consultancy is provided free of charge by the specialists of the Arbitration Court at its offices, by phone or post;
  • International co-operation with similar institutions and organizations from other countries, for the purpose of establishing and developing collaboration. Participation in and organizing of international conferences, meetings, forums and seminars;
  • Co-operation with the Arbitration Commissions within the system of Chambers of  Commerce and Industry in Romania in promoting arbitration and in case law.

Bucharest, December 8th, 2011: A total of 33 Bilateral Chambers of Commerce received from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania the official certification at an event held in Chandeliers Hall at the Chamber of Commerce Palace.
